Stein Mart Feb comparable store sales drop 2.1%

Stein Mart, Inc. reported total sales of $84.5 million for the four-week period ended March 1, 2014, compared to total sales of $86.7 million for the four-week period ended March 2, 2013. Comparable store sales for the four-week period ended March 1, 2014 decreased 2.1 percent from comparable store sales for the four-week period ended March 2, 2013.

Geographically, Florida and Texas had the strongest sales in February, with comparable store sales increases. Most other areas experienced sales declines due to severe winter weather, with the Northeast and Midwest being impacted the most.

The Company operated 264 stores at the end of February this year compared to 263 stores last year.

Fourth Quarter and Fiscal 2013 Financial Results

Financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal 2013 will be reported prior to the opening of the U.S. financial markets on Thursday, March 13, 2014. Management will also hold a conference call at 10:00 a.m. ET that morning to discuss those results.
