Mothers Work April same-store sales rise 7.1%

Leading maternity apparel retailer Mothers Work Inc has announced net sales for April 2006.

The net sales for the month of April 2006 increased 6.6 percent to $58.0 million from $54.4 million reported for the month of April 2005. The increase in net sales for April 2006 was primarily driven by increased comparable store sales.

Comparable store sales for April 2006 increased 7.1 percent versus a comparable store sales increase of 3.1 percent for April 2005. The 7.1 percent comparable store sales increase for the month of April 2006 was favorably impacted by approx. 1.5 percentage points due to the shift in the timing of Easter to April this year compared to March last year.

Rebecca Matthias, President and COO of Mothers Work, noted, "We are extremely pleased to report our very strong sales performance for the month of April, as we delivered a comparable store sales increase of 7.1 percent for the month.”
