The US imported 5 million dozen jeans for gents as well as ladies, worth $496.8 million during first two months of 2006, a 11 percent decline in volume and 10 percent in value terms, compared to similar period, 2005.
Asian countries which cornered major share as jeans suppliers included China, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Vietnam.
Bangladesh's export growth rate stood highest at 153 percent for January - February period, while those of Hong Kong - 68 percent, Indonesia - 63 percent and Vietnam - 57 percent were recorded accordingly.
China exported jeans worth $8.5 million to the US, recording a major slide of 77 percent in volume.
