The managing director of UK based Coats plc’s subsidiary in Vietnam, Bill Watson has been awarded a Certificate of Merit from the office of the Prime Minister of Vietnam.

Bill Watson was recognised for his achievement in developing and building the strong business partnership between Vietnamese and foreign enterprises.

He was presented the award at the recent Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) Annual Summation Ceremony in Hanoi.

Coats Phong Phu is the Vietnam business of Coats plc, the world’s leading industrial thread and consumer textile crafts business.

Paul Forman, CEO, Coats plc, said, “This is great recognition for Bill’s work not just in helping make the Coats business successful in Vietnam but also his contribution to the Vietnamese textile and garment sector.”

“I am immensely proud to have received this recognition. I have lived and worked in this region for over 20 years and to be recognised with a national award as this, is truly a great honour,” Bill Watson said.

In November 2014, Coats Phong Phuit celebrated 25 years of operating in the country and in December, it won an award in the People Empowerment category at the annual Vietnam Supply Chain Awards.

Earlier in 2014, Quyen Le, HR director was awarded ‘Human Resources Professional of the Year’ by Towers Watson, a leading global professional services agency. (AR)
