Online marketplace Snapdeal is the title sponsor for the three day India Fashion Forum (IFF) which begins from today and runs till March 20 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, Mumbai.

In its 15th year, IFF is regarded as a congregation of creative minds from the fashion industry and offers a platform for exchanging knowledge, insights and discussing future trends within the fashion sector.

Fashion already accounts for over 70 per cent of orders volume at Snapdeal and it has plans to strengthen this category further.

Recent acquisition of Exclusively.com was one such step in this direction and Snapdeal aims to reach the $2 billion GMV mark in the fashion category by this year.

“As fashion business captains and entrepreneurs join this exchange of knowledge and insights, Snapdeal aims to forge a new set of business relationships in this high focus category,” Snapdeal said in a press release.

Speaking about this partnership, Amit Maheshwari, vice president, Fashion at Snapdeal said, “IFF is one of the biggest conglomeration of the best personalities in the Indian fashion industry and we are proud to be associated with it.”

“This association provides Snapdeal a great platform to address and interact with those who have been instrumental in building fashion across the value chain,” he added.

“With our unbeatable reach and together with knowledge leaders of the offline world, we are sure that we can herald a new era for the fashion industry building ecommerce as a sustainable ecosystem,” he noted.

“IFF's association with an e-tailing leader such as Snapdeal reflects the tremendous innovation and opportunities defining the Indian marketplace," said Amitabh Taneja, chief convenor, IFF.

Snapdeal will set up a lounge at the venue which will showcase nuances of India’s largest marketplace by setting up experiential zones with live interactive screens to help people shop online from the site.

To showcase its commitment and appreciation for the fashion fraternity, Snapdeal has also planned to institute special awards for its sellers and fashion brands associated with the company.

These awards will be given away in a special Snapdeal awards segment designed to honour the good work being done in the industry.

Additionally, IFF will also act as an open platform of communication for potential sellers, retailers and fashion brands with Snapdeal and help them understand the business opportunity.

“To facilitate onboarding, a registration desk will be set up at the venue which will educate and evangelise all business partners,” Snapdeal said.

With over 40 million members and seller base approaching 100,000 sellers, Snapdeal delivers to 5000 odd cities and towns in India.

The company witnessed phenomenal growth in 2013-14, growing 600 per cent from 2013 to 2014, making it the fastest growing e-commerce company in India. (AR)
