Through the efforts of TITAS, Brad Beal, senior vice president of Jockey International, one of the leading underwear manufacturers in the U.S., visited Taiwan in March to evaluate Taiwan's production capacity and innovativeness. During his visit, Beal expressed his interest in establishing business relationships with Taiwan suppliers.
Jockey International is a U.S.-based company with a history of 125 years. The company has shown its interest in men's, women's and children's underwear, as well as leisurewear and linens, which are the best selling items in U.S. department stores.
Beal stressed Jockey's commitment to creating the most comfortable products. The emphasis on comfort has driven the company to search for innovative materials and production technologies, utilizing many environmentally friendly materials such as Modal, Tactel, Meryl, Viscose, and Plush Velour.
In addition to Macy's and Bloomingdale's, Jockey's products are also sold at WalMart and Target stores. Today, Jockey products are sold in more than 120 countries, and the company plans to open 100 new sales points in China this year. In view of its fast growth, Jockey International said that it needs more suppliers.
Despite the urgency of its needs, Beal said Jockey pays special attention to screening qualified manufacturers to maintain its brand image. In addition to insisting that these companies to comply with environmental laws, labor laws, and safety codes, Jockey also raises some 300 questions to evaluate potential manufacturers.
