HCM City Association for Garment-Textile-Embroidery-Knitting (Agtek) Chairman Nguyen Duc Hoan stated that the industry was bound to meet many challenges in months to come in 2006.
This period is expected to witness sharp decline in business efficiency, lack of labours and domestic materials for production, leading to inability of meeting large goods orders, Hoan explained.
Meanwhile, a newly released International Training Garment Center (ITG) report revealed that production efficiency and productivities of enterprises in HCM city are lower than those of other countries.
Operational time of engines and equipments of them is only 3.5 hours-shift, while it is four hours-shift in China, five hours-shift in Taiwan and Korea.
