Charming Shoppes appoints Tim White as SVP of Marketing

Charming Shoppes Inc, a leading multi-brand, multi-channel specialty apparel retailer specializing in women's plus-size apparel, announced a senior management appointment.

Tim White has joined Charming Shoppes in the newly created position of Senior VP, Marketing. In this position, he will have overall responsibility for strategic direction related to brand identity and awareness, and marketing and advertising strategies of the company's multiple brands and channels, including the coordination of the brands' sales promotion activities.

Corporate functions under his direct management will include corporate database marketing, public relations, philanthropic efforts, market and fashion trend analysis, and the company's proprietary fashion and lifestyle publication, figure magazine.

White will report to Dorrit Bern, Chairman, CEO and President of Charming Shoppes Inc. He joins Charming Shoppes as an experienced marketing executive whose retail career has spanned more than 25 years. Since 2002, he has served as Senior VP of Marketing at Linens-N-Things with responsibility for all marketing functions including strategic planning, branding, advertising, in-store communications and store design.

Prior to 2002, White served in a number of senior marketing capacities, including management positions with The Great Indoors, Computer City Super Centers, and the Kmart Corporation. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from NorthwoodUniversity and is a board member of the Retail Advertising and Marketing Association.
