Exporters incur losses despite price increase

Clothing export in Amoy city was stagnant at 7 million pieces but the increase in price by US $5.07 helped export value go up to $36 million, an increase of 22.5 percent.

However, the profits of the exporting units have not gone up and as a matter of fact some have also lost money because of factors like increase in labour cost, rise in oil prices, shortage of skilled labour and appreciation of RMB, made the fabric dearer.

Experts have suggested that the clothing units should crucify management and try to obtain orders with high unit prices.
