Family Dollar Stores July net sales jump 13.1%

Family Dollar Stores Inc reported that net sales for the four weeks ended July 29, 2006, increased 13.1 percent to approximately $473.5 million from $418.8 million for the four weeks ended July 30, 2005.
Comparable store sales for the four-week period increased approximately 7.5 percent. The Company had 6,120 stores as of July 29, 2006, including 27 new stores opened in the fiscal July period.
With more than 6,000 stores in a 44-state area ranging northwest to Idaho, northeast to Maine, southeast to Florida, and southwest to Arizona, Family Dollar is one of the fastest growing discount store chains in the United States.
