Lion Apparel appoints news CEO & CFO

At the Lion Apparel Inc. annual meeting, Steve Schwartz, great grandson of William Lapedes, founder of Lion, was named CEO of the company, completing a long planned leadership transition between he and his uncle, Richard Lapedes. Lapedes will retain his position as Chairman of the Board after having held both the Chairmanship and the CEO position for the last 14 years.
"I feel very honored and privileged to take on the role of CEO of my family's business," commented Schwartz. "The past three years since being appointed COO have been a challenging time preparing for this job but as a result I feel prepared to take this next step. We have an outstanding team of people, and a sound strategy."
"Steve has worked hard to deserve this position," said Lapedes. "He has the leadership skill and ability to lead the company into the next generation of opportunities and challenges. He has his team in place now and they are motivated to execute our strategy under his leadership."
At the same annual meeting, Brian Tuttle was named Chief Financial Officer of the company. Tuttle was formerly vice president and treasurer of Griffith Laboratories, a privately held food ingredient manufacturer. "Brian's international experience, treasury experience and people skills will enhance the capability of our management team," said Schwartz.
Lion Apparel Inc is a 108-year-old, privately held global company based in Dayton, Ohio. Through offices in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Australia, Lion serves the uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE) and logistics requirements of police and fire departments, civilian government agencies, emergency services and military organizations around the world.
