Garment manufacturers of Fiji wish early implementation of new Rules of Origin requirement in SPAR-TECA Textile, Clothing and Footwear Scheme.

Manufacturers desired to implement these requirements in next year instead of 2008.

President of TCF Council, Ramesh Solanki made this statement after garment manufacturers were facilitated a reduction in Rules of Origin requirements from 35 to 25 percent by the Australian Government.

They are ready to upgrade their production process and wish that implementation of this scheme move forward to 2007 instead of 2008.

To implement this scheme garment manufacturers have to conform to credible audit and compliance system and start training program under Structural Adjustment Package.
