Vietnam Fashion Company (VTF), under guidance of Vietnam Textile and Garment Corporation, is trying to grasp opportunities in the local market.

VTF is expanding its stores rapidly to face tough competition.

VTF owns Vinatex Mart chain and it is developing two new garment supermarkets to be launched late in 2006 when Vietnam will have entered WTO.

Then total number of garment supermarkets in Vietnam will be 38. VTF is expanding its store in Hanoi to meet growing demands.

General Manager Nguyen Thi Hong Huong informed at VTF's consumer meeting that half the products in both supermarkets will be apparel and textile goods.

VTF wants to strengthen its presence in local market. Huong told suppliers that VTF would add seven stores in 2007 with the purpose of increasing Vinatex Mart stores from 36 currently to 80 by 2010.

Huong stated that sales at VTF supermalls are rising by 80 percent every year.

She added that in first eight months of 2006, the chain's productivity rose 78 percent compared to 2005.
