Inditex purchased in December 2005 several plots spreading over 66,000 m2 at Onzonillas'Industrial Estate, over which 40,000 m² industrial premises were built, with an investment of €15 million.
Staff of the new platform is currently comprised of some 100 individuals, further to an initial recruitment process conducted over the last months, and a gradual enlargement to 200 employees is expected.
In order to set in train this new hub in León, Inditex has taken into consideration the geographical situation and the availability of a proper transport infrastructure network, which are key for the development of the activity of this centre in León, which shall be supplementary to that conducted at the Arteixo (A Coruña) and Zaragoza distribution centres.
New logistics platforms
To the new centre today launched, a new distribution centre shall be added, which Inditex is currently building in Meco (Madrid) and which will begin running in 2007. The building of these platforms, together with a series of improvement and consolidation steps performed on the existing logistics centres, are part of the Logistics Development Plan that Inditex is implementing, aimed at ensuring that the distribution capacity of the Group is kept in line with the expansion of the eight commercial formats of the Group.
