Shishi City aspires to earn 'leisurewear city of China' tag

In order to promote famous clothing brands of Shishi city, the local Government has urged National General Bureau for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine to consider leisure wear as integral part of Chinese clothing brands.
Shishi is famous for clothing; especially leisurewear. According to statistics, in the first eight months this year, sales at its six big marketplaces topped among those from all parts of China. Among the six leading leisure wear brands, four that featured belonged to Shishi city alone.
However, at present, Chinese products' directory does not include leisure costumes. A women clothing unit manufacturing leisure trousers in Shishi city won the title as 'famous product of China,' but in the women trousers category.
The clothing output and export of Shishi city has occupied one-fourth of the national marketshare. In 2002, Shishi won the coveted title 'China's Leisure Costume City.'
Experts view that to boost Shishi city's casual wear industry, development of more globally recognized local brands is necessary.
