During November 2006, garment exports of the country declined by 16 percent to $1,956,024.49 to US, Garment Association of Nepal (GAN) revealed.
Garment export to US is declining due to various reasons like cutthroat competition, high cost of production, late delivery of consignment and shutdown of garment units.
Considering trend of current year, readymade garment export for 2006 is expected to decline more compared to previous year.
Although exports of readymade garments to Canada registered a hike of 77.99 percent in October, it declined by 11.14 percent in November.
