NDMC students to wear designer uniforms

Students of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) schools will flaunt school uniforms designed by National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).

The complete set of uniforms will be distributed to around 27,000 students in 71 NDMC schools with each student getting four sets each — two sets for summer and two sets for winter and this time all classes will get four sets, distributed free.

Primary school boys will be shorts and half-sleeved shirts while girls get tunics and half-sleeved shirts during summer.

For middle-school and senior secondary school boys, its trousers and half-sleeved shirts while middle-school girls will get skirts and half-sleeved shirts and for senior secondary school girls it will be salwar suits. The uniform includes ties and belts too.

Thick woollen and cotton clothes, including full-sleeved shirts, sweaters and trousers will be provided to children during winter season.

The uniforms made of 67 percent polyester is estimated to cost over Rs 4 crore which includes two pairs of shoes — black shoes for daily wear and white sports shoes.

To ensure deliveries of the uniform is done on time payment will be released when children gets the uniforms, said NDMC, Education Director, Mamta Kocher.
