On January 21, 2007, Industry and Commercial Department of Shanghai city conducted standard test on garments of famous international brands sold in town.
However, about 40 percent of famous international brands' garments were rejected in test.
Garments were unqualified on the basis of formaldehyde content, PH, dyeing and other two parameters.
Out of total 59 garments of 40 international brands included in test, 25 garments were disqualified. Famous brands like Zara, Chanel, Armani, MaxMara and Burberry were included in the test.
Local Government has issued instruction to lift this unqualified clothing from the market and units are also charged with fine.
