Though, in the first quarter of 2007, the export prices of Chinese T-shirts recorded a slight decline, they were still much higher than the prices of 2005. The unit price of T-shirt exported to the US increased 59 percent than the same period of 2005.
The total export in the first four months of this year has decreased considerably, mainly because of the reduced demand from Japan. However, Japan still remains the biggest market for T-shirts. Sector's exports to Japan fell around 10 percent, earning about US $300 million.
Meanwhile, export to the US grew rapidly, bringing in $92 million, representing a rise of 211 percent.
Export to EU also registered swift surge. Around $36 million was grossed from Germany, with a boost of 180 percent.
At the same time, the export to quota-free countries also grew, especially that to Switzerland, which saw a 5-fold growth in 2 years.
As for Chinese cotton T-shirt, export value in the first quarter of 2007 climbed 25 percent to $1.25 billion and the volume saw an increase of 6 percent.
