Lion Apparel productivity HighJumps 30%

Jul '07
HighJump Software, a 3M company, a global provider of supply chain execution solutions announced that Lion Apparel is successfully and efficiently managing the inventory of U.S. military personnel uniforms and equipment from 17 distribution centers worldwide.

With the HighJump Warehouse Advantage warehouse management system (WMS) implemented at all of these sites, Lion Apparel reports strong operational improvements, including a 30 percent increase in productivity as well as greater visibility and accuracy.

A prime vendor for the U.S. Department of Defense, Lion Apparel's Logistics Group manages inventory of U.S. Army uniforms and equipment in its Suffolk, Va, warehouse, as well as assets currently deployed in the field.

The company also has implemented the HighJump WMS at 16 Marine Corps locations in Camp Lejeune, N.C. San Diego's Camp Pendleton; and Okinawa, Japan.

In addition to servicing the armed forces, Lion Apparel designs, manufactures and distributes occupational uniforms and equipment for firefighters, police, and emergency medical personnel.

“Lion Apparel is financially accountable for about a billion dollars in assets. I'm sleeping better at night knowing that HighJump Software and the WMS are behind us,” said Terry Smith, senior vice president, Lion Apparel's Government Group.

“We wanted a best-of-breed system that could help us scale our operations as we grow without adding people. We definitely have thatin place.”

“Lion Apparel's achievement in using HighJump Warehouse Advantage to quickly create an interlocking network of distribution facilities speaks volumes about its supply chain dedication and vision,” said Joel Levinson, president, HighJump Software.

“We look forward to playing a strategic role in the company's ongoing growth and supply chain excellence.”
