Paramount to diversify into apparel sector

Paramount Surgimed, the manufacturer of surgical apparatus, has planned to venture into the apparel sector. The company has inked an agreement with Axara, the French apparel brand, to promote it in Indian market.
Axara, which expertises in trading women garments, has achieved sales of more than three million pieces globally last year.
Paramount, observing the retail boom in India, has plans of enter into the retail sector as well. It has decided to open retail outlets across the country by 2011, with an investment of INR 50 crore.
The company would set two stand alone stores of Axara in Mumbai and Delhi and depending upon the initial response, it would expand to other cities.
