The Centre will help provide skilled manpower which, according to audiences, was a known major problem. He invited organizations to invest about Rs30 lakh to set up an ATDC that would regularly feed industries with skilled and industry-ready manpower.

He informed that Surat and Silvassa had already set up ATDCs and added that had they have started filling up existing vacancies within the region.

SME Workshop was also addressed by Raghavendra Pani and Sohail Siddique, both from ICICI Bank Ltd, Hitesh Mittal, Technopak Advisors Pvt Ltd, Pavan Dikshit, Tata Teleservices Ltd and Girdhar, Regional Manager, HCL, Ahmedabad, who offered solutions through their respective PowerPoint presentations.

It is estimated that about 80 percent of the apparel and clothing manufacturers are marketing within the city and they need to take risk by thinking 'big' and ensuring their city regains its lost 'textile' pride.

Even though Ahmedabad has earned the sobriquet 'Denim Capital of the World' with biggies like Arvind Mills Limited, Ashima Group, Artex Apparels Pvt Ltd, Chiripal Group, Soma Textiles among others from the city, making mark on the international markets, small and medium enterprises that have great potential, as the workshop clearly indicated, have a long way to go!
