From January to July this year, Thailand earned just US $1.93 billion from garment products exports, representing a fall of 4.34 percent from same period 2006.
The US remains the biggest importer of Made–in–Thailand garment products, till July this year. The country exported apparels worth $949.4 million, showing a year–on–year plunge of 6.33 percent, accounting for 49.07 percent of total exports turnover of Thailand.
Along with the US, the country suffered the same decreasing trend in few other markets during these seven months. Exports to UK dropped 9.24 percent for $121.30 million, to France figure was $118.12 million, 5.95 percent less and shipments to Japan fetched $111.69 million, a dive of 17.85 percent.
However, slight increase in export revenue was observed at Netherlands with $57.42 million and Italy for $34.97 million, up by 27.68 and 7.05 percent respectively over same period last year.
