Cham Praxit, Cambodian Minister of Trade, recently revealed that in the first half of this year country achieved 12 percent rise in the exports of textile and apparel products as compared to the same period of 2006.
The country attained this result as it has been trying to improve trade and investment environment. With low–cost raw material, lower worker wages and efforts to lure foreign ventures, Cambodia successfully obtained rosy results.
According to Garment Manufacturer Association in Cambodia (GMAC), the industry is currently employing around 330,000 labors. Of this total, female workers account for 80 percent.
