Chhari ghos is essentially a garment weaved from yak hair and wooland are usually dark brown in color. On the other hand Chhari Kiras also known as Honlo Kiras are bluish black in color.
Chhari clothes are very heavy compared to the normal ones and washing them can take quiet an amount of effort.
These garments were once very popular in the central region of dzongkhag where temperatures would drop below zero during winters. Besides, they were so expensive that only the rich upper class could afford it.
Chhari ghos were considered as superior in quality because they are quite durable and water-proof as well. Today, however, these clothes are not easily available since they are not woven in good quantities and are also very expensive.
Weaving of washed yak hair can take several months but once finished even a seven year old Chhari gho will look as good as a new one.
