Sri Lanka's Industrial giant MAS Holdings, is now planning to get into the field of education. The company is planning to train 2,000 people annually in its textile zone in Thulhiriya, from this month. To enter into this venture, the company has made huge investments.

The MAS Institute of Management Technology (MIMT) is a BOI company which trains rural youth with its employment oriented courses which aimed at providing employment opportunities for young people in under privileged areas.

The MIMT education system comprises of training for the textile and garment manufacturing sector, along with others.

Various Indian textile companies are eager to set up their plants in Sri Lanka, but due to lack of proper skills in the textile sector, they are holding back.

Experts believe that the future seem to be brighter, not only for the students but also for the country as the corporate world is coming forward to take initiatives along with the Government to take the country one step ahead.
