Prateek Apparels plans for expansion

Indian market has emerged as the fifth largest retail destination across the world as more and more companies are getting into this business. It is estimated that the market will further grow from nearly US $342 to $427 billion by 2010, an increase of almost 22 percent. With future so bright, retail stores are becoming top priority of the garment manufacturers.

Prateek Apparels, a leading producer of apparels, is also planning for retail expansion looking at the latest trend. This Bangalore-based manufacturer wants to make the most of it by investing Rs350 crore, in its value lifestyle format 'Coupon' and kidswear brand 'Kanz'.

One of Prateek's lifestyle format, Coupon, presently has two branches in Bangalore and Raipur. The company will come up with 12 to 15 malls across India within two years. The amount for this purpose will be raised through various channels like funding, equity and debt.

Coupon malls, with an average size of 30,000 square feet each, would be opened in metros and mini-metros. Cities like Bangalore, Delhi , Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kozhikode, Nagpur, Pune and Lucknow will have the lifestyle stores.
