Mr White to oversee all strategic & operating aspects of Goody's

Goody's Family Clothing Inc has named Paul White as the company's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and member of the board of directors. White assumed the post on March 5, 2008, and will oversee all strategic and operating aspects of the company.
White brings more than 30 years of retail experience and a diverse background to Goody's. He has extensive direct leadership experience in merchandising and marketing in both department store and big box retailing. Most recently, White held a variety of senior management positions with ShopKo of Green Bay, Wisconsin, including general merchandise manager, chief merchandising officer, president, and interim chief executive officer.
Mario Ciampi of Prentice Capital Management said, “We were seeking a strong leader who can unite our team and affect change; we are delighted to find in Paul a strategic visionary with a vast merchandising background and passion for the retail business. We feel confident his understanding of the middle-American consumer will spark the results we aim to achieve this year and beyond.”
Prior to ShopKo, White served as senior vice president and general merchandise manager and senior vice president of advertising and sales promotion at the Famous-Barr division of May Department Stores in St. Louis. He also held senior merchandising positions with the Lazarus division of Federated Department Stores in Cincinnati.
“I am very excited about the opportunities in Goody's future,” said White. “As a regional retailer, the company has had an intimate relationship with its customer base and is poised to reestablish that position. I look forward to working with Prentice and the entire talented team to reposition the company for growth.”
