Govt attempts to assist domestic designers

Although, the multi-faceted culture of Ethiopia reflects ethnic diversity, the condition of fashion remains gloomy, so much so that local designers have not gained global recognition so far.

Reasons for underdeveloped fashion industry, according to experts, are lack of training centers, opportunities and support from the Government.

Realizing the importance of this sector, Ethiopian Government has finally paid attention to it.

As a result, a team of four designers are visiting India to learn about fashion, with major focus on the intricacies of design, craft, trends and techniques.

One of the key reasons for seeking help from India is, its flourishing fashion industry worth more than Rs270 crore. This has made India achieve an iconic state for nations who are still trying to establish themselves in this field.
