AEPC survey of garment industries 2008-09

02 Apr '08
1 min read

Apparel exports have witnessed significant decline in 2007-08 after 5 years of consistent growth.

Due to the problem of rupee appreciation during the year, rupee realizations have been declined affecting viability of apparel units. This has lead to closure of units in many cases, especially for smaller units.

The council has been making representations to the Govt of India from time to time to highlight the distress in the industry and its impact on the employment generation potential of the industry.

In order to highlight the state of the industry, level of utilized capacities, lay offs etc the Council is conducting a survey to collect information from garment units across to get primary level information on order book positions, export performance and prospects.

You are requested to send in the attached questionnaire duly filled by 10th April 2008 to enable AEPC in strengthening its information base on the critical issues affecting the industry and address them in a better way.
