Textile & clothing export of Changshu City booms

According to the statistics of the local Quality Inspection Bureau, in the first quarter of 2008, Changshu City, Jiangsu Province exported a total of 4,539 shipments of textile and clothes marking a surge of 25 percent.
Export value reached US $109.46 million, up by 28 percent which was the highest ever recorded in the history of Changshu City.
Experts believe that the key reason behind this remarkable increase was the advantage the city has in textile and clothes industry and of its strategic geographical position.
Textile and clothing is one of the oldest industries of the city and presently it houses enterprises specializing in down clothes and men's leisure garments which have a huge demand in domestic market.
Some of the locally based foreign trade manufacturers are restructuring their pattern of production to focus on high-grade and quality products. This has also contributed immensely to increasing the exports of the region.
