Trade minister meets NCTO head to improve apparel exports

In a bid to expand market access for apparel exports from Sri Lanka to US, Mr GL Peiris, Minister of Export Development and International Trade, met Mr Cass Johnson, President of the National Council of Textile Organizations (NCTO) of the US in Washington D.C.
Mr Peiris, advocated the strengths of the Sri Lankan apparel sector and drew attention to consistent adherence of quality standards, timely delivery, global competitiveness and innovation with regard to design and other market requirements by Sri Lankan companies.
The minister also brought to the fore-front, the enormous efforts made by the sector in the past years and adoption of ethically high production process which is in line with the concept of environment friendly means.
Mr Cass on his part assured Mr Peiris that the organization would stay in close cooperation with the Sri Lankan apparel sector and would seek for the most riveting opportunity to enhance trade with the country.
