Apparel exporter GARCO 10's model worthy of emulation

Garment Company 10 (GARCO 10) is one of the leading textile and garment enterprises in Vietnam having a well earned reputation in the market. Its products not only have a high domestic market share but also a strong hold over markets in EU, US, Japan, Hong Kong and Korea with total export value of more than US $100 million per year.

The company, has 17 factories in all of which 12 are located in Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, and Quang Binh in turn providing employment to more tha 4,400 persons in rural areas. Presently, GARCO 10 focuses on two product lines mainly shirts and suits for men that meet international standards of quality.

The company has nine units specializing in shirt for men and four others concentrating on exporting suits to Europe, America, Japan and Hong Kong. While AOYAMA is the company's exclusive brand for men suits, it also sells brands like Vangraff, Jacques Britt, JC Penny and Gilllberto. Known for its uniquely designed outfits and quality products, GARCO 10 has been able to increase its turnover by 50 percent in the last year and accounts for 20 percent of the group turnover.

Besides, the company invests heavily in new technologies to ensure that its products meet international quality standards. As such these modern technologies enable high productivity, reduce material and power consumption which in turn lowers the price of the product and increases competitiveness and profit.

In the past two years, the company invested more than VND70 billion to expand its Bim Son Garment factory in Thanh Hoa and to increase two lines in Ha Quang Garment factory that creates stable jobs for about 70 workers.

GARCO 10 strictly follows quality management systems under ISO 9001-2000, SA 8000 and ISO 14000 to satisfy the tough demands of world's leading apparel distributors.

The company and its subsidaries have adopted the lastest software in management, designing and brand name promotion that helps reduce production cost, increase productivity, bring higher profits and increase in incomes for worker.

Being aware that human resources is the key factor for success, leaders of GARCO 10 pay special attention to training to improve the effectiveness of its employees. Last year, GARCO 10 spent Vnd 2 billion on training its staffs.

The company also sent its staffs to visit and learn experience from domestic and foreign enterprises. It also has suitable salary policies that encourage workers to improve themselves and in turn increase their incomes.
