American Apparel Comparable Store sales rise in Q3

American Apparel Inc announced the company's comparable store sales (unaudited) for the month of September 2008 and for the third quarter ended September 30, 2008.
American Apparel reported that for the month of September 2008, sales for stores open for more than twelve months increased 15% over the year ago period, on a constant currency basis. For the month of September 2007, comparable store sales increased 35%. There were 150 stores in the sales comparison for September 2008.
For the third quarter ended September 30, 2008, comparable store sales increased 24% over the third quarter of 2007. As previously reported, for the third quarter ended September 30, 2007, comparable store sales increased 27%.
American Apparel opened 12 new retail stores during the month of September in the following locations: 345 7th Ave., New York City; 2103 Broadway, New York City; Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, New York; Omaha, Nebraska; Madison, Wisconsin; Annapolis Mall in Annapolis, Maryland; Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, Maryland; Sawgrass Mills in Sunrise, Florida; Market Mall in Calgary, Alberta; Cabot Circus in Bristol, United Kingdom; São Paolo, Brazil; and Nali Mall in Beijing, China. American Apparel has opened a total of 48 retail stores in 2008 through September 30, including 33 stores in the recently completed third quarter.
