BlueCotton ranked among fastest growing private companies

Inc Magazine ranked custom t-shirt provider BlueCotton No. 3,988 in its annual list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the country, with three-year sales growth of 73.5 percent, BlueCotton announced. As if to underscore the message, the company hit a new sales record in October, with total sales ringing in at more than 10 percent higher than October 2007.

BlueCotton is the place to go for high-quality, easy-to-design custom t-shirts. BlueCotton offers printed and embroidered custom t-shirts, hats, and outerwear for groups of all kinds: schools, churches, sports teams, non-profits, fraternities, sororities, or those who just want to make a proud, personal statement. The successful launch of niche t-shirt design websites, including BlueCotton.com and GreekT-Shirts.com, have helped the company establish an Internet presence and win legions of fans.

But BlueCotton CEO Mike Coffey credits a big part of the company's success to its commitment to treating every customer as a friend and every transaction as part of a relationship.

“We're not just selling t-shirts. We're helping someone make a bold statement about themselves,” said Coffey. “People want custom t-shirts for many reasons – to raise money for their favorite causes, to promote their sports leagues, or to simply claim their identity with style. We often find ourselves being included in a significant event in someone's life. We take every order just as seriously as our customers do, and they reward us by coming back to us again and again.”

This year, two of those customers were friends who were embarking on a cross-country bike ride to raise money for another friend who had developed two types of cancer in her early 20s. They wanted t-shirts to help raise money and to advertise their cause. Their BlueCotton shirts were such a hit, they came back for re-orders.

“BlueCotton is incredible!” said Logan Marlatt of Gunnison, Colo. “I love the website and how fun and easy it was to design my shirts. They had great selection and fantastic prices. Above all else, the customer service staff at BlueCotton was top notch. They definitely will get my business next time I need shirts.”

BlueCotton makes the process of t-shirt design as simple as possible with its DesignStudio, an online customization tool that lets customers design printed t-shirts and embroidered apparel through a powerful interactive interface that puts professional design tools into anyone's hands.

Gizmodo calls DesignStudio “a sophisticated Photoshop-like web app to let you design your own shirt…with a tremendous amount of control over the results.” The popular gadget blog says, “The interface rocks. Even if you're not buying a T-shirt, it's fun to play with.”

According to the publication, the Inc. 5000 list is the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy – America's independent-minded entrepreneurs. Taken as a whole, these companies represent the backbone of the U.S. economy. BlueCotton was among just 36 companies from Kentucky to make the list.
