Export of waistcoat declines

According to statistics released by General Custom Department, in November 2008, export of waistcoat sharply decreased 33.5 and 19 percent respectively in quantity and in value over October. Vietnam exported 301,500 units worth US$ 2 million, respectively up 49.7 and 78.6 percent compared to November last year.
During the period from January to November, the country earned $28 million by exporting 4.49 million waistcoats depicting a fall of 0.4 and 2.1 percent respectively year-on-year.
Among all key markets, Vietnam earned $14.2 million from exporting 2.2 million pieces to US, representing a decrease of 19 and 18.7 percent in terms of both value and volume.
Notably, export of waistcoat to EU increased 22.3 percent in quantity and 39.2 percent in value to touch 1.62 million worth $9.7 million, accounting of 34.66 percent of the total export value.
Exports of waistcoat to Japan, Canada and Taiwan respectively soared 28 percent, 24.3 percent and 10 percent on year. However, in the newly acquired markets like South Africa, Russia, UAE, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia export gained low value.
