According to Mr. Kedar Apshankar, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Peter England, the brand from the Madura Garments stable, the brand intends to extend its reach to 1,000 towns and thereby increase its penetration in urban areas by end-2009 as it foresees a vast untapped potential in those markets.

The brand is already available in 600 towns and now our target is to extend that presence to 1,000 towns by the end of the current year, added the COO. The company is targeting the franchise route to expand with the help of locals who are well versed in the area and with the rules and regulations.

The company had set up 100 outlets in 2008 and is expected to add 20 more by March end of which, two thirds would be franchise outlets and the rest company owned. These stores would be located in towns and cities of Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
