Brand Matter inks deal with Ivory for Caribbean Joe brand

Brand Matter LLC, owner of the Caribbean Joe brand, announced that it has entered into an exclusive long term licensing agreement with Ivory International Inc (Ivory) for Caribbean Joe branded women's and kid's sportswear, including knits, wovens, sweaters, casual bottoms and outerwear.
The new wholly owned division of Ivory will be operated under the name Caribbean Joe Apparel Company. Ivory will hire the core design, merchandising, and sales team from the former licensee and will begin immediately to work with the retailers on all current and future business. They will focus on Caribbean Joe's present retail distribution of Department and Specialty Stores.
Bill Sweedler, Co-Chair and CEO of Brand Matter, LLC said, “We have searched for the perfect partner over the past 3 months to transition and grow this important license for Caribbean Joe. The Ivory team has strong expertise in the women's and kid's sportswear business and we are excited to have them as our partner to grow the Caribbean Joe brand in this core category. They understand the brand and are already working with the go forward team to expeditiously transition the current business with retailer partners.”
Sandy Lipson, Ivory President said “Our team has been looking to partner with a genuine brand that fits the casual lifestyle profile. Caribbean Joe and its exclusive brands have high awareness with consumers, and we look forward to building a long term partnership.” He added, “We think the current team that we hired from the former licensee, including President Andrea Scoli and VP of Merchandising Ellen Levy-Ganz will help us transition the business seamlessly. They bring a combined 40 years of experience and talent, and have the vision of the product and its customers.”
Andrea Scoli will continue as President of the new Ivory division.
The wholly owned division will be based out of New York City and Miami. Marketing Management Group (MMG) helped facilitate this transaction.
Caribbean Joe Apparel is a lifestyle brand for all seasons. Caribbean Joe apparel and accessories provides an authentic, relaxed, inclusive experience under the Caribbean Joe, Havana Jack's Café, La Cabana, Jamaica Bay and CJ Breeze trademarks. Products offered include women's, men's and kid's sportswear, women's and men's, swim, sunglasses, women's fragrances, luggage, shoes, women's loungewear and intimate, headwear and handbags, in both the US and Canada.
Ivory International Inc is a privately owned, Miami, Florida based manufacturer of ladies, men's and children's apparel. The Company was founded in 1976 by Robert and Joseph Lodge. “Bob” Lodge started Ivory and has been its President and now CEO throughout the company's existence.
