Mafatlal to increase production of school & corporate uniforms

Mafatlal Industries Ltd., a flagship company of Arvind Mafatlal Group, will increase production of school uniform & corporate uniform.
Mr. Raghunath M. B. Vice President (sales & Marketing) of Mafatlal Industries Ltd. stated that Mafatlal have sold more than 50 lakhs metres in school uniform in this season, which was 40 lakhs metres in last season. For next year, Mafatlal plans to manufacture school uniform 60 to 65 lakhs metres.
At present, the size of school uniform market is Rs. 10,000 crores and yearly growth rate is 15%. This year, most of the manufacturers thought that the trend would be negative in recession time and planned the production conservatively, expecting low volumes. School uniform tailors and converters also delayed their production planning but in the uniform market, the trend and requirement are at an all time high.
Due to steep hike in yarn prices and weaving charges, the unorganized sector manufacturers at Bhiwandi & Bhilwara could not produce enough uniform fabrics to cater to the cheaper price market and the same has created a shortage in the market place. As a result, branded high quality school uniform manufacturers like Mafatlal & S. Kumars have taken complete advantage of the situation as they have planned production well in advance.
Mafatlal Fabrics is promoting their products directly at school level along with local retailers & tailors/ converters. They are appointing school uniform dealers all over the country and organizing presentations and seminars for school authorities with the help of local dealers.
Mafatlal is using 3-D computer presentation with more than 100 patterns & designs with the support of more than 5000 designs in shirtings and more than 200 designs and sets in suitings. Mafatlal Fabrics are inviting school authorities directly to seminars to educate the importance of school uniforms & the quality parameter. Mafatlal is also ready to help schools in development of designs & patterns for uniforms.
Corporate uniform is a Rs.2,000 crore market. Most of the corporate and large public undertakings are changing their uniform purchase pattern from the traditional way of fabric purchase to readymade uniforms. The armed forced, many state governments, central government buyers and public sectors are demanding fabric and readymades from reputed manufacturers & well known brands.
They have incorporated pre- qualification criteria like “Composite Mill Certificate of having spinning, weaving & processing capability”, ISO Certification, Test Report from Textile Committee, minimum required turnover along with past performance details etc to avoid low quality suppliers. Textile mills like Mafatlal Industries & Raymonds are the biggest institutional suppliers in the segment.
100 years old Mafatlal Industries Ltd. have 2 integrated 100% composite mills situated at Nadiad & Navsari in Gujarat.
Mafatlal will enter corporate gift business and will offer products for FMCG & pharma companies.
