'The Chennai Silks' opens showroom in Kerala

'The Chennai Silks' (TCS), which stakes claim to be one of the biggest textile retail chains in India recently opened its showroom in Kerala. It is the first store of TCS in Kerala and has been built at an estimated cost of Rs. 60 crores and is spread over 125,000 sq. ft.

The showroom has nine floors with each floor separated for individual sections such as teens' fashion, kids' wear, men's wear, ethnic wear and home furnishings along with silk saris and designer saris, informed Director Mr. K. Vinayakam.

The total turnover of TCS is Rs. 1,500 crores, out of which Rs. 300 crore is from exports. There are three showrooms of TCS in Coimbatore and huge outlets in Chennai, Karur, Tirupur, Thriruchirapalli and Erode. It has more than 20 lakh sq. ft. space for textile sales, informed the Director.

At Aarni, Kancheepuram and Bangalore, it has its own weaving centres, where designs from famous designers across India are woven. The wedding collection 'VIVAGA', whose price ranges from Rs. 8000 to Rs. 5 lakhs, is the most sold and sought after wedding sari in South India, said the General Manager Mr. Ravindra.
