OLYMP Bezner GmbH & Co. KG, the family-run company based in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany (in the district of Ludwigsburg/economic region of Stuttgart) is continuing to enjoy sustained growth and in the first six months of the 2009 financial year achieved a half-year turnover (as of 30 June 2009) of 55.8 million euros (52.3 million euros in the 1st half of 2008). With this increase of 6.7%, the shirt specialist is continuing to achieve consistent growth in a very complicated market environment.

In the first half of 2009, the number of jobs at the German site was even able to be increased slightly and the workforce there currently totals 390.

Managing Director Mark Bezner comments as follows: "OLYMP in the meantime has become the undisputed market leader of branded shirts for men in Germany and also holds a very respectable position on the international stage. Nevertheless, the economic precautionary and consolidation measures of the previous years have paid off by continuing to maintain the production volumes and employment at a solid level.”

In his opinion however, it is pleasing to note the increased demand for high quality business and leisure shirts, polos and ties from OLYMP, which is continuing on a global basis and a solid growth in demand for these products is therefore expected for the second half of 2009, although turnover and sales figures have been declining, not just in the German clothing sector, for several years.

According to Mark Bezner, the worrying signs that the worldwide financial and economic crisis is set to continue are also having an effect on the clothing market: "Customers, precisely during times such as this current store crisis, are looking for reliable and classic values. This of course also includes our top class shirts. In times when the mood for consumption is subdued and there is a reticence to purchase, which makes value for money count more than ever to the end-consumer, it is all the more important to impress our customers by offering outstanding product advantages and excellent value for money. We are therefore focusing all our efforts on consistently maintaining our high quality standards and on further expanding the OLYMP brand also in the coming months."

The worldwide export of OLYMP products is to be further extended on an increased basis. The intention is still to expand the distribution of the OLYMP brand on a national but also international basis, above all throughout Western Europe, Benelux, France, Austria and Switzerland, as well as in Scandinavia and China.

In 2009 OLYMP will continue to live up to its reputation for being a company which guarantees textile innovations. With "Cool and Dry", featured in the "OLYMP Novum" leisure line, an exceptional feel-good polo shirt has been created. It consists of a special micro-fibre (100% micro-polyester) with exceptional fineness and has beneficial characteristics such as a quick-drying effect, temperature regulation, breathability and is also kind to the skin. In this way, moisture is transmitted to the outside more quickly than with pure, conventional cotton.
