Garment export from Guangdong to US & Middle East grows

The monthly export volume of Guangdong's textile and garment sector has stayed relatively stable this year and has averaged around US $700 million per month from March to July. July exports registered US $780 million, with negative growth narrowing to 7.7 percent.
Shipments from the sector touched $17 billion in the first seven months of 2009, down 9.9 percent year-on-year, of which, garment exports reached $12.1 billion and have been displaying a growing trend with each passing month.
Export value of clothing from Guangdong increased from a low of $980 million in February to nearly $2.15 billion in July. Textile exports on the other hand reached close to $4.7 billion in the same period, down 10.5 percent year-on-year.
Customs data reveals that both, clothing and textile exports to Hong Kong fell, while exports to the EU and the US markets were mixed. Exports to the US market registered a year-on-year growth of 12 percent to touch $2.2 billion.
Exports of textiles and garment to the Middle East market, totaled to $1.22 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 29 percent.
