Bangladesh's merchandise exports for the initial three months of this fiscal (2010-11) grew by 29 percent over the corresponding period last fiscal and stood at US $ 5,029.05 million.
As revealed by EPB statistics, overall export receipts of the country for the initial three months of last fiscal (2009-10) stood at $ 3,869.10 million.
Further, knitwear items exports too recorded a rise of 31.91 percent for the period under consideration and contributed $ 2,181.28 million to the overall export earnings.
Knitwear items have exceeded the $ 1,725.85 million's first quarter export earnings target by 26.39 percent.
Meanwhile, exports earnings from woven garments for the three months ended September 30, 2010 grew by 30 percent as over the corresponding period last year.
Also as per the EPB data, the woven garments exports earned some $ 17.90.24 million to the country's economy during the initial three months of this fiscal, which is 11.84 percent above the targeted figures.
