GTN textiles, the vertically integrated textile company, is debuting its own clothing label and in the process move up the textile value-chain. After having launched branded cotton socks, it is planning to unveil the first of its kind; 100 percent mercerized cotton t-shirts under the brand name of Coystyle, in the next six months.

At the same time, the company is also ramping up production capacity by investing Rs 750 million at its two spinning units in Hyderabad and Nagpur, by adding 30,000 spindles to its existing capacity of 90,000 in the next 18 months. This will take yarn output from the existing 25 tons per day to 40 tons.

GTN Industries is a name to reckon with in the Indian textile sector, for its vertically integrated operations, encompassing 100 percent cotton yarn spinning and processing, fabric knitting and processing and garmenting, with multi-location operations and state-of-the-art manufacturing plants.

“GTN Industries has planned to enter the premium retailing market by launching Cotstyle, which will be India's first 100 % mercerized cotton specific brand, Mr MK Patodia, Chairman and Managing Director of GTN Industries, informed fibre2fashion.

Continuing he said, “Mercerization puts cotton through several layers of quality checks and produces the ultimate in quality and which we call '24 carat cotton'. GTN has launched its own brand of lifestyle knitted garments crafted from world-class 100 % cotton mercerized yarn. In tune with the emerging fashion trends world-wide, Cotstyle garments epitomize, both class and comfort, for quality seeking customers, both nationally and internationally.

“The world over, mercerized cotton leads the cotton segment because of its quality and value. However, socks in this category have not been available in the country so far. Cotstyle expects to meet the demands of quality and value-conscious customer in India by providing socks and garments, which are sought after in retail stores in major cities of India”.

Providing more details about the brand he said, “With imminent globalization, we have decided to extend the value chain through Cotstyle, which will offer innovative and international quality products using 100 % mercerized two-ply cotton. Cotstyle is more than a brand; it is an expression of the belief that, India can make products that can match any international brands.

“The exclusivity can be gauged from the special process and product pricing. GTN develops and designs socks and t-shirts from fibre to finished garments. With the launch of Cotstyle, the same international quality cotton garments crafted from high quality 100% Egyptian cotton mercerized yarn will now be available in India.
