Historically, the men's apparel market in India has been significantly larger than the women's apparel market. When asked if he sensed any significant change in this pattern, he informed by saying, “From the past couple of years there has been a significant focus on women's apparel with many a major men's brands coming into this segment. Also coupled with the fact that globalisation in India has brought about a significant increase in the percentage of working women which has supported the increase of focus in this segment.
“Therefore, though men's market still is significantly larger than women's apparel market there has been a decrease in the gap between the two”, he concluded by saying.
