Indian footwear and accessories brand Pelle Albero will face a minimum loss of ₹2 crore, which excludes a revenue loss of nearly ₹9 crore, if the situation does not improve by October, according to its chief executive officer Pramod Mittal, who said the footwear industry cannot help much in shifting production to manufacture personal protective equipment.

If the costs in warehousing, space rental and salaries do not witness any concession, operations would become unviable leading to closure of businesses.

“Resources in this sector will always be available in abundance, but it is the cost factor that poses the real threat,” he told Fibre2Fashion in an interview.
