The Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PHMEA) said that since the textile package, promised by the Prime Minister to bring the textile sector out of current crisis, is not being announced, the crisis in the industry is worsening with each passing day. This statement comes following the continuous drop in textile exports.

“Pakistani textile as well as apparel exports were turning uncompetitive in the international market, leading to continuous decline in exports since the last few years, while that of countries like China, India, Bangladesh and Vietnam are on the rise,” a letter written to the Prime Minister by PHMEA chairman Adil Butt stated.

“Butt urged the Prime Minister to announce the relief package and rescue the sector, in order to sustain exports from the country,” Pakistani media reports said. (AR)
