Dr. A. Sakthivel, President of Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) has said though the upward revision of power tariff is inevitable considering the financial position of Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd. (TANGEDCO), Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Ltd. (TANTRANSCO) and TNEB Limited, and increase in the cost of Electricity production, a special consideration has to be given for the exporting units consumers as they have to compete in the international market in cost effective manner and also to sustain in the market.

He added that the knitwear exporting units have been already affected by various adverse factors and at this juncture, the increase in power tariff to this extend would contribute for further reduction of their competitiveness.

Dr. Sakthivel appealed to Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) to reduce the Power Tariff hike for exporting units to 20% against the 37.5% announced by TNERC.
