Menswear sales were down 4.8 per cent year-on-year, the fifth consecutive month of decline, to 38,044 million yen ($348.60 million) and womenswear sales decreased by 3.9 per cent to 102,280 million yen ($937.19 million) in November 2018, the data showed.
Likewise, kidswear sales too decreased for the fifth month in a row to 9,422 million yen ($86.33 million), down 7.3 per cent, during the month, the association said.
Sales of knitwear and light garments such as cut and sewn items were positive, whereas those of winter garments were negative. Sales of sundries and miscellaneous articles continued to perform well, increasing by 5.4 per cent and 4.2 per cent to 100,171 million yen ($917.87 million) and 65,256 million yen ($597.94 million) respectively.
