  • Lorpen, a Spain-based technical sock maker, has introduced Comfort Plus technology and redesigned models for its Spring-Summer 2024 sock collection.
  • With an emphasis on sustainability, the collection uses materials such as Red-Cycled Nylon and Coolmax EcoMade.
  • The manufacturing practices at its Etxalar factory are environmentally friendly.
Lorpen, Spain-based designer and manufacturer of technical socks for outdoor activities, has redesigned its socks and started using the new Comfort Plus technology for the upcoming Spring-Summer 2024 season.

The brand, that created T3 technology (3 layers of different thread in a single sock), and improved it by combining it with SLS (Selective Layer System) – a system of different layers in strategic areas based on the activity that is going to be done and the conditions it will be done in – is now using its Comfort Plus technology in the T3 Light Hikers and crew length Running models.

“The goal is to keep providing pressure but without compressing too much so that during outdoor activities they don’t leave a mark or bother the athlete. In that way, Lorpen has achieved a point that is much more flexible than other brands that makes the socks adapt to all kinds of calves while guaranteeing pressure but with maximum comfort by having more elasticity,” the company said in a press release.

Aside from technology, Lorpen has redesigned the models in its SS 2024 collection. It is using new textures and colour combinations with a preference for monochrome to give the socks a more technological look, playing with tones to show the structure of the socks and different layers of threads.

Moreover, in the SS 2024 collection, Lorpen is using Red-Cycled Nylon (comes 100 per cent from recycled fishing nets), Coolmax EcoMade (made 100 per cent from recycled PET bottles) and Tencel (a breathable Lenzing cellulose fibre that comes from eucalyptus trees from certified sustainable plantations).

The factory in Etxalar, where Lorpen manufactures its socks, adheres to environmentally friendly practices. This includes having ISO 14001 environmental certification, using electrical energy sourced from solar panels, and abstaining from the use of chemicals in the final products. The manufacturing processes avoid excessive water use and due to the factory's location, 95 per cent of the workers commute by walking or biking. Additionally, all plastic bags and boxes used in the factory contain recycled materials, the release added.

Lorpen will be presenting these new products at the Outdoor by ISPO fair (Stand A3.200) to be held in Munich from June 4-6.
